The founder of TyfloCentrum is The Czech Blind United (CBU)


The main activity of The Public Beneficial Society (PBS) is to conduct the center of daily services as a specialised institution for blind citizen and other handicapped people. In centre of daily activities meet people with different level of reconciliation of their handicap. They also learn to handle different skills and abilities. This enables to motivate them to overcome the results of their handicap and to live with the level of their abilities and skills. In TyfloCentrum the people can obtain the multilateral information about specific services for disabled people, they acquire, increase or deepen the knowledge or skills f. e. in the sphere of the social contact, self-operation, or handling with the electronic compensative aids. This abilities help the clients to live self independently in the greater extent, and enables them to be independent on the help of other people. Handling this skills helps to increase their self-confidence and to prepare them for requalification, for their working and social integration.

The main idea of the center is to ensure the social services for blind and visually impaired people, which were realized in the past by the local Centres of CBU. It means the ensuring of services, following or preceding training courses of social rehabilitation and the retraining courses. The common denominator of this services is the integration of blind and visually impaired people into the everyday life of the society. All this is done on the base of reaching the higher level of independent solving the problems, which are often in the case of this handicap.
